Logo design

We have combined our design lessons with computing and started to design logos for our own restaurants. Next week we start to design menus using Adobe software.

We also uploaded our designs to Seesaw. Afterwards we liked and commented on each other’s designs whilst talking about the impact of commenting on things online.

Commando Jo!

In our Commando Jo sessions we have been following the journey of Spartacus, a Roman warrior. We’ve been working hard on applying skills such as team work, resilience and communication into all of the activities.

This week we had to work as a team to build a defence barrier to protect our tower.

🏏 Cricket 🏏

Last week we had a visiting from the Eastwood Cricket Club who led a PE lesson. We learnt some of the rules and skills needed to play cricket. Most of us had never played cricket before but luckily Neil was very helpful and we all had a lot of fun learning about a new sport.

Hall Park Academy

We visited Hall Park Academy for our first taster day to see what Secondary school is like.

Throughout the day we had a German lesson, PE lesson and an art lesson. It was a great day and it was a good insight into what school is going to be like after Brookhill (which isn’t too far away!)

We will be visiting Hall Park again before the summer holidays for another 3 lessons.

Life education.

This week (as you may have noticed on the playground) we had a visit from the Life Education Centre. On Wednesday we had a lesson on the life trailer about being healthy; both physically and mentally. We discussed what was good for our mind and body along with what isn’t so good. The lesson was very informative and everyone shared their existing knowledge and experiences. On top of all that, it was a lot of fun!

Computing

We had a very exciting Computing lesson this week as we were the first at Brookhill Leys to use the brand new chrome books. This week we were searching for information and pictures about our topic (New York) and started to collate the information using Google Slides. Next week we should start to finish our presentations and hopefully show to the rest of class.

Drama time! 🎭

Happy New Year!

We have already made a fantastic start to 2019 exploring existing fantasy stories.

Our new topic for this year is New York and the book we will be reading is Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins.

To end our fantastic first week we had a drama lesson. Working in pairs we acted out a fantasy story that over the next couple of weeks will be writing for display.

As usual, we had lots of fun and now understand the story a lot better.
